Wooden Marin Harp:

Construction Notes:

This is Marin's harp, made from pine wood. The pics above show the major stages. I started with a 2x10 (Rocco inspects it in pic 1 to make sure it's suitable). Next comes basic shaping: I use a hand saw, chisel and then a scroll saw. After the outside is shaped I move inside. Cut out some holes so I can get in there with a saw and repeat the same process I used on the outside. Pic 5 shows a smooth harp nearly finished. Chisel comes in handy for basic shaping, then palm sander an finally sandpaper. At this stage I drill the holes for the strings. Finally, when it's niiiice and smooth comes three coats of wood hardener, and then Createx brown airbrush pigment tinted with red Luma ink. Buff it up nice with an old t-shirt and give it a few coats of clear flat spray sealer. Last but not least, the strings! I picked up a pair of bronze colored acustic guitar strings and pegged them in place with dowels. It can't really carry a tune, but it sure looks like it can :) I can make you a wood prop if yyou need one: mike@fantasyprops.com
