Construction Notes:

After seeing Pirates of the Caribbean my friend thought people might enjoy a pirate-themed party. Well, we could have settled for candy coins, but why, when you know someone who's obsessed enough to make custom coins just for a 4 hour party?!

This was actually pretty easy. I got online and found pictures of real pirate doubloons. I carved the design onto a sculpey 'stamp' tool and baked it. Next I carved a Jolly Roger into another sculpey 'stamp'. After pressing each stamp into small sculpey balls I flattened several edges to simulate real scraped coins from that era. Then just throw on a Mike-special antique paint job and whammo! It was a hit at the party, people used them to pay for 'goods and services' all night.

Tools: sculpey, plastic carving tools, acrylic paints, spray sealer
